If you ever wanted to get a little more insight into Gamal Abdel Nasser’s meticulous military mind, it is now possible with the release of the new book ‘Nasser Documents: The Personal Diaries of Gamal Abdel-Nasser’, and the good folks at Diwan Bookstore are hosting a book signing on Thursday, September 27th at 7:00 PM, according to Egypt Today.

The book will also be discussed by Gamal Khaled Abdel-Nasser, the editor of the book and grandson of the ex-president, and Hussam Eissa, former Minister of Higher Education and Professor of International Law at Ain Shams University.

The diaries include Abdel-Nasser’s note from the 1948 Palestine War, his book “Philosophy of the Revolution," among many others.

In “Philosophy of the Revolution”, Gamal speaks of his aspiration to be the leader of 55 million Arabs, then of the 224 million Africans, and then of the 420 million followers of Islam. In 1958, Syria and Egypt formed the United Arab Republic, but that’s as far as Nasser got to making his dream of unified Arabs a reality.

According to Walid Khalidi, translator of Nasser’s memoirs of the first Palestinian war, a final chapter called “The End of the Campaign” wasn’t released by our late president in his “Memoirs of the First Palestinian War’, but it is still unclear whether this would be released in this new book.
