New Trade Line Linking Egypt and Africa Announced

The new line aims to facilitate more import and export with several African nations on the Red Sea and Indian Ocean.

Egyptian African Trade Line

Egypt’s Ministry of Public Business Sector released a statement this week revealing the establishment of a trade line linking Ain El Sokhna to East Africa, with a view to beginning operations in October, reports Egypt Today.

Coming as an effort to encourage trade between Egypt and the rest of the continent, the line will pass through six countries on the Red Sea and Indian Ocean, as well as several landlocked African nations, and will grant logistical import and export services.

Egypt is also considering re-exploring the establishment of a line with Europe through a deal with Turkish freight ferry operator, Ro-Ro, which was put on hold in 2015 as a result of political unrest in Turkey.
